TimeMachineEditor

TimeMachineEditor

TimeMachineEditor is a software for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard that lets you change the default one-hour backup interval of Time Machine.
You can change the interval or create a more sophosticated scheduling (see screenshot below).

This is useful if you don’t need to backup every hour and don’t want the performance penalty. This is also especially useful if you manipulate lots of data within one hour as you would spend the whole day backing up.

How To: Hackintosh a Dell Mini 9 Into the Ultimate OS X Netbook

How To: Hackintosh a Dell Mini 9 Into the Ultimate OS X Netbook

A very good how-to about how you can convert a Dell Mini 9 into the perfect Mac OS X netbook. Something I definitely want to try someday!

There are a lot of netbooks on which you can install and run OS X, but if you're mindful of the handy comparison chart those lads at Boing Boing Gadgets have compiled, you'll know that the Mini 9 is about as ideal a platform as you'll find for a Hackintosh ultraportable: Everything from wi-fi, sound and the function keys down to the optional integrated mobile broadband card and the SD card reader are supported and work as they should. No hardware compromises at all. It's awesome.

Force a restore of an iPod Touch

If you’ve tried to jailbreak your iPod Touch and it miserably failed you can try to force a restore of your iPod Touch by doing the following:

While the iPod is connected to your computer:

  1. Hold the Home and sleep button until the iPod turns off.
  2. Keep holding until the iPod turns back on with the Apple Logo.
  3. Once the Apple logo appears, let go of the sleep button, but keep holding the home button.
  4. After some 20 seconds or so, the Apple logo will turn to the iTunes + Cable image. You can let go of the home button now and iTunes will restore.

External display seems blurred on Mac

Even Macs do weird things. If you’ve connected a second display to your Mac it might be a false identification which makes your screen really blurry or even display an “Out of sync” message. This can be fixed easily in OS X by removing or renaming the file Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist and rebooting your Mac — that last step is in most cases not even necessary.

Make your Gmail notifier on your Mac secure

The Gmail (and calendar) notifier on the Mac are default sending your password as plain text over the internet. You can however change this in a hidden setting dialog to send all data over https by holding down the Command and Option key and pulling down the Notifier menu, then click the Preferences option and a dialog will pop-up. Now enter SecureAlways (exactly as shown) in the Key-field and put a 1 in the Value-field. Click Set and restart the Notifier. All communications with the Google servers will be secure from now on!

Installing Safari 3 Beta on Windows Vista and Error: 2738

Since Apple released Safari for Windows Vista (and XP) I’ve been trying to get it installed, however the following error was keeping me from a successful install;

“The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate … Error Code 2738″

I found out that the fix is a simple one!

1.) Open up the start menu and type in “cmd”, wait for it to finish searching the command prompt program and run it as an Administrator (Right mouse button and select “Run as Administrator”).

2.) (Make sure you are Administrator) Once the Command Prompt is open simply type in the following command “regsvr32 vbscript.dll” and press enter.

Ignore any errors you might may encounter.

3.) You are ready to reinstall Safari 3 Beta and run it on Windows Vista!
